The human machine is overwhelmingly complex and beautiful. The flow of convex and concave curves over mechanisms within the body fires my imagination and is the foundation to my approach and understanding of the human figure.
My aim through sculpture is to capture those fleeting gestures of body language through rotation and gesture. When studying an athlete or dancer pushing their bodies to supreme limits I want to record that majestic moment of tension and grace.
Figurative sculpture has the power to move and teach us about ourselves.
Mark studied portrait sculpture at Heatherley School of Fine Art in London and figurative sculpture with Richard MacDonald in California.
