Maureen Mackey

I am an artist, teacher and author who calls Tucson, Arizona my home. I have been working in clay for more than 20 years and lately have included paintings and mono prints in my body of work. I received both a MFA in Studio Art and a Masters in Art Education from the University of Arizona. I have also studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the California College of Arts and Crafts. My interest in discipline-based art education led me to begin writing on the subject for ceramic teachers. I have had several publications and recently completed the third edition of, Experience Clay, a text book for Davis Publications. I enjoy writing but I truly find the challenge of being an artist most exhilarating and magical. My paintings echo the effects of the unique light that permeates the Sonoran desert environment where I live with my husband and family.
