McCrow's art is controversial, thought provoking and addresses many contradictions.
Like it or not, guns have become an integral part of modern society providing security as well as means of threat.
McCrow believes that reducing the number of guns in areas of conflict and instability will help reduce the suffering and number of deaths. Putting each one in the view of the public acts as a stark reminder of the atrocities they've committed and would continue to commit if left unchecked.
Working with weaponry procured directly from areas of conflict and then decommissioned, McCrow wants people to look beyond their new representation to acknowledge the dark story each weapon carries with it; to challenge our sanitised view of guns, our reaction to their being in front of us and with that our own morality.
McCrow's art is controversial, thought provoking and embraces the contradictory
views that come with guns and refocuses them with a fresh perspective and a
heartfelt purpose.
