Michele Hausman

When painting, all my senses are engaged to communicate my impression of a subject. The act of painting is a constant process of decision making. Each painting explores shape, form, color, value, and texture. I must orchestrate how the viewer will be drawn into the painting and travel around in its elements. I hope to captivate and entertain. Look for contrasts: soft and hard edges, bright and dark colors, thick and thin paint, all laid down with the intention to entertain the eye and stimulate the mind. Out in nature, I experience a spiritual connection. My attempts to recreate the beauty of nature and my relationship to it are both humbling and exciting. I hope to convey this excitement to you, the viewer.

I consider painting to be a life long process of developing the eye to see more subtle changes in light and color. My basic drawing, color and design education began at Cabrillo College. I continued to study with master landscape painters in France and the Western USA. Including week long workshops at the Scottsdale Artist School. My past mentors include Scott Christensen, Ned Mueller, Elizabeth Tolley, Ken Auster, Ted Goerschner, and Kevin Macpherson.
