Michelle Adlard

From a family full of makers Michelle has always been creating and wanted to be a painter from very young. She painted a lot, earning a BFA, and an MFA from a university with a very traditional approach to painting education.

Michelle is an experimental artist, enjoying navigating the journey along the way and bouncing along from one idea and work to another and back again. She loves working inseries often making multiples of any image and sometimes revisiting ideas over and over in an attempt to extract another experience of it. Her subject matter is diverse, ranging from portraits, landscapes, abstracts and including collage. She particularly enjoys capturing or conveying a story through the image, whether the personality of the portrait or the process of the mark making to find or describe the subject matter. The pursuit of the process is the main subject across all the many themes.

Michelle is a mum to 4 girls, who are all very creative themselves, they are a wildly neurodivergent family and there is seldom a dull moment.
