Munibah Noor-E-Sehr

Munibah graduated from National College of Arts Lahore in 1993 under the rigorous training of Bashir Ahmed. She received National critical acclaim by attaining the Shakir Ali Award which is the highest award of excellence at NCA, as well as the Haji Sharif Award for her works in Miniature Painting. She also received the Gold medal and Principal’s Honor Award.

After moving to Riyadh in 1994 she stopped working for 14 long years and felt hostage to the circumstances from where she did not want an escape. She eventually overcame this ’silent’ period and her first new full body of work after the academic period is Zinda Dargore (Buried Alive) which reflects on how she felt during the Silent Period. It was as if she was buried alive, with no ambition and no drive to live any of her dreams. Zinda Dargore is a multi era series where each painting has been revisited several times and is quite unique in the way that the evolution of images and technique is seen within each single work. There are many hidden metaphors and recurring images of trees, ghosts, and other demons of her life.
