Oksana Ball

I’m Oksana Ball and I’m a self-taught fiber artist and founder of “Wool Pictures”. To create paintings, I use a unique technique called “Wool Painting”, also known as “Wool Watercolor”. Instead of using paint and a brush, I use wool fibers to create the effects of layering color, creating texture, and providing depth. The paintings are crafted by layering wool fibers atop each other on a flat surface and pressing with glass to remain firmly in place; after which, they are nicely framed. I don’t use any glue, needles, water or paint!

My inspiration comes from a love of nature and science, which has an enormous influence on my work. My wool paintings are composed of variety of themes, including landscapes, birds, animals, fish, and flowers. I also gladly create wool paintings for nursery and kids’ play rooms. My children’s collection contains butterflies, funny animals, snowmen, and hot air balloons. I also produce fanciful scenes featuring exotic fairies and whimsical renditions of Doctor Who.
