PEDRO ALMEIDA born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo
It was in Lisbon, while attending pharmacy school, that he discovered his belated interest in the arts. And it was only while working as a pharmacist that he decided to attend a painting course as a hobby at AR:CO art school and came into contact with oil and acrylic painting for the first time.
At the beginning of those classes, during a surfing session, he suffers a dislocation of the elbow that will change the course of his life. The immobilization of his shoulder and right hand, for a few weeks, forces him to keep those classes, which were already paid for, to change the brush to his left hand — he had been right-handed since he entered primary school, when the teacher forced him to write with his right hand. He has never stopped painting since.
Thus, it is at ARTE Ilimitada, an alternative art school in Lisbon, that he first starts exposing is art. And, after this experience, he felt a growing desire to attend a course in fine arts, and subsequently, he got the Bachelor of Arts from the Fine Arts Faculty of Lisbon, followed by a Master's degree in painting under the guidance of full professor Isabel Sabino, PhD.
