Rachel Mower

Currently I have striped back the glamour, the niceties, and the 'hoop jumping'. I create self-gratification works with a disregard to commodity 'in the cold light of paint'. Unburdened and freely, I've chosen not to use art to escape but to instead create works that act as "windows" peering into life.

I love golden acrylic colours and water mixable oils as they hold vibrance when dry. Most works have been finished with varnish to further maximise their vibrancy. I sometimes paint with my fingers direct with paint to linen canvas and panel and use brushes varying in a wide range of softnesses, shape and size to achieve the right message.

Works could loosely be described in the styles of abstract expressionism, fauvism, painterly, pop and street.

Other past works have been very experimental using a variety of mediums and applications. I still like to challenge myself with unorthodox materials every now and then, for example 'biro birds'. See more on my website.
