Rafael Rasillo

Rafael Rasillo was born in Palencia (Spain). He graduated in Geography and History and obtained a specialization in History of Art at Salamanca University.

He started painting when he was still a child and he considers himself a self-learner as to his artistic education. His Naif style arises from his own and personal experience as he never attended any formal art school nor followed any rules as he considered them remote from his feeling of art and freedom.

His works reflect his inner world, sometimes fantastic, naturalistic or deriving from stories or dreams. He describes a calm, peaceful and magic world in contradiction with the reality which is often the opposite. He paints mainly plastic childish looks emphasizing their astonishing primigenial, fantastic flight, disinhibited expression and charming awkwardness.
