Writer - Artist.
Descendant of William Wordsworth.
Forty six years of professional experience. “I was fifteen when I sold my first piece. Ever since being a little girl, many moons ago, I always knew art was my one true passion. The love I have for artistic endeavours made me realise at an early age that I wanted to turn it into my career.”
“That brings us to today. In both my art and writing works I mark them with the name Susan Solak. I adopted the name Solak when I was invited to an art exhibition in Turkey, 1997. I fell in love with the country and the name comes from a boutique shop called Solak’s. I adored that shop, I can smell it now when I close my eyes. On the far wall there was a beautiful leaded glass window, a ginger cat laid sleeping in the crevice of the stone ledge. The smell of incense hung heavily in the air. Whenever I am painting or writing, I am back in that time. The name Solak means left handed and I happen to be left handed, it fits perfectly.”
