Tim Hupkes is a Dutch artist primarily working in acrylic on canvas. Her paintings emerge from a place of silence, sparked by a sudden colour, a gesture, a pulse. She does not paint what she sees: she paints what demands to be seen.
Each piece begins without a fixed image. Working with palette knives, creditcards, brushes and lots more, layering and scraping, she lets the canvas speak. There is no plan, just presence. The result is abstract, but never vague: there are energetic landscapes, carrying memory, vibration, breath.
Hupkes’ work is bold in colour and movement, yet grounded in physical process. Some paintings arrive in calm; others break through in bursts of rage or clarity. Each layer remains visible, a history that is both tactile and emotional.
Recurring themes include stillness beneath chaos, light as structure, freedom and the resonance of inner states. Her practice is intuitive, physical, and deeply alive.
