Samuel Toro Rosa

Born: 1978; San Juan, Puerto RicoArt as a whole should be and cannot be a separate thing from the day to day world that we live in. To do this would be to negate all of the validity within art in itself. Dualities, dichotomies are a crucial aspect of the work. A two fold work which is in constant battle between a formal and a conceptual approach. What is beauty without brains? The work is very broad and I resist classification. I work with any material which makes the work feel stronger. The conceptualization of the work is what encourages me to use a specific material. These concepts vary from self exploration to humoristic critique. That being said, I see my work as a visual and a physical experience, as well as an emotional and conceptual one.
