Zarah David

I was born in Mussorie, India on 21st September, 1944. I have done my Masters in Fine Arts from the Punjab University, Lahore in 1965 and qualified in Music from the Trinity College, London.I paint imaginative compositions of a surreal, impressionistic and sometimes spiritual content in mixed media and in oils. I have been painting for the last 45 years and taken part in the National Shows held at the Lahore Arts Council for the last 26 years.I started my career as the Junior School Art Teacher at the Lahore American School from 1966-1968. I have been the Colour Consultant for ICI Dulux Paints from 1973-1993 and I have been teaching singing in schools for the last 45 years as well. Art and Music... vision and soul come together. I love teaching children, especially children with special needs.
I am now working as the curator of a new gallery, 'The Color Gallery'in Lahore which will open by the middle of September.

MFA from the Fine Arts Department of the Punjab University ( gold medal ). I have painted over the years but as I was bringing up my family I couldn't devote as much time as I would have liked to my paintings.I have been painting non-stop for the last seven years and had my first solo show in December of 2006 at the Canvas Gallery, Karachi. In September, 2007 at the V.M. Gallery, Karachi.In February of 2008, a Group Exhibition of 8 artists at the Ejaz Gallery, Lahore. In May, 2008 at The Studio in Lahore and in September, 2008 at the Nomad Gallery in Islamabad. In January of 2009,I had a show at the Native Gallery in Lahore. In 2010 I have exhibited in a number of Group Shows at Vogue Gallery, Lahore, Travelling Exhibitions and in a show at Karachi 'No Honour in Killing' at the V.M.Gallery. In 2011 Group Exhibition at Vogue
Gallery 2 of Artists from the Five Provinces. In 2012 I had a Solo Show at The Ocean Galleries in Karachi and two Group Shows so far at the launch of the new venue of Gallery 6 in Islamabad and at the Unicon Gallery in Karachi. I received an Award for Art on International Women's Day, March 8th, 2012 by the Sukh Chen Group of Companies.
