Biswajit Mukherjee

I explore through nature amidst urban landscape. My works are abstract chronicle of relations among man, build environment and nature. While commencing a piece of work, I don't harbour any reservation of the subject. I brood over the composition, colour and texture for desired effect. As the painting takes shape it needs something and I go with the flow delivering that. This creation-creator interactive session determines the course. I stop where the canvas stops demanding anything. It’s the completion.

The viewer can rest his eyes wherever he likes. It’s a culmination of colour and forms defined by bold strokes outgrow and overlap each other. I use pure, flat and bold colours. The surface is illuminated with a liquid hue making the texture soothing. I insist coexistence of cool and warm to keep the visual quality of sensuousness alive.

I was born at and fostered by the city. I inherit the urban setting, visible in my work. It apes nature as contemporary as the eternal cycle of decay and rebirth. Nature comes to me impersonally, yet I find my existence rooted deeply in it. What surfaces on canvas, is my being at one with it.
