Susan Searle

I have been painting for over 45 years. Primarily a watercolour artist I also enjoy oils (only recently), acrylic, pen and ink, alcohol inks, charcoal and pencil.

I run an arts centre in my town and I teach watercolour painting and life drawing.

My biggest passion is wildlife and wild places so that is mainly what I paint. I am particularly interested in endangered species and hope that my art will go some way towards raising awareness of the plight of animals, birds and other wildlife.

In my spare time, when I am not painting or running my arts centre, I love to be in nature. It inspires me, relaxes me and fills me with wonder. I am very lucky to live in a part of the world where the sea, the moors and rolling Devon countryside is right on the doorstep.

I studied art to 'A' level back in the 1970's and always wanted to go to art college. Despite this I have consistently worked on my art to perfect techniques. I love to work with other artists and go to exhibitions to get inspiration.

I currently have some of my work on display at my arts centre.
