Olena Hnatiuk

Olena Hnatiuk is a visual artist whose practice centers on painting.

Her work explores solitude, uncertainty, vulnerability, and the experience of being suspended between past and future. Through figurative imagery, she creates spaces where people, objects, and memories exist in a fragile balance between presence and absence.

Hnatiuk develops her paintings through an intuitive dialogue with colour, form, and material, allowing images to emerge gradually through the process itself. Recurring themes in her work include waiting, observation, emotional isolation, and the relationship between a person and their inner world.

Alongside painting, she also works with illustration and artist books.

I was born on November 6, 1995 in Kherson, Ukraine.
2013 − 2018: I was studying at Kherson National Technical University and graduated it with honors. I have a master's degree.
2018 – 2022: I work as a teacher at a private art school for children. I also work with adults. I prepare students for entering universities.
2023: Participation in the residency SWAN – Swedish Artist Residency Network.
2024: Get a scholarship from women's cultural association in Helsingborg
My pictures are in private collections in Ukraine, USA and Germany.
