When talking about contemporary art from Asia, it doesnt merely imply the geographical region of Asia but its countries on the move. As we currently witness such transformation processes in emerging countries like India, Vietnam, China or Indonesia, we simultaneously observe its immediate as well as fruitful impact on contemporary local artistic practices.
Bearing this in mind, our aim is to shift away from a representational practice that categorises artists by national identity and geographical affiliation.
As a young gallery in Berlin, we feel the need to display contemporary positions, which discursively deal with that change in current global forces and its artistic manifestations. Hence, we aim to focus on young artists who engage with their work in an intercultural dialogue. There is still a lack of representation of non-western artistic positions on a regular basis in the Berlin art scene and on this we want to impinge as a gallery.
