Jenny Toft is a Devon-based contemporary painter whose work explores the Architecture of Memory — how surfaces record, conceal and reveal the passage of time. An MA Fine Art graduate, her work has been featured in Saatchi Art’s curated selection of UK best-selling artists and is held in private collections internationally.
Informed by her hands-on restoration of early 20th-century buildings, Toft approaches the canvas as a constructed surface. Through layering, staining and controlled abrasion, she builds and disrupts the image, allowing traces of earlier states to remain visible.
Her paintings operate between control and collapse: structured fields are interrupted, surfaces erode, and material residue becomes a form of visual memory. Through this process, she investigates what endures — within architecture, landscape and the human condition.
