Sandra Von Haselberg

Born 1966, living and working in London.

Having spent her early years and adolescence in London, New York, Paris and Frankfurt, Sandra's returned to her birth place London in 1989. Here, affected by the emotional complexities of life as 'not quite' a foreigner in multicultural London, she turned to installation and performance to explore the notion of 'home' as both a physical and mental place, and the often complex and fragile path that leads us there.
Inspired by the conservation methods entomologists use for their insects, Sandra uses pins and recycled paper from magazines, photographs and newspapers to create compositions fragile, beautiful, unsettled worlds, that appear safe but seem to trap time and progress, alive but dead within their frames.
