Borislav Aleksiev

Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, 1984.
My main interest in sculpture is figurative and abstract trends of plastic art. All works offered here are entirely abstract although academic approach and shapes derived from real objects are determining factors for the genesis of the works. Geometric abstraction and Minimal art have been influential on my quests as an author. I always look for their synthesis which is expressed in the problems of transformation, interlacing and deformation of the form. A desired effect is the feeling of movement and state of being uninterrupted.
I work with all classic materials as stone, bronze, wood and terracotta. Contemporary materials with their unlimited formal and constructive qualities are also fascinating for me. I try to use them mostly in the process of modelling. Subsequently the generated forms are transferred into any of the classic materials.
