Painting for me is all about capturing the subjects essence, in my case, landscape. My aim is to create a believable atmosphere that I hope would captivate the viewer to the point that it becomes a sensory experience.
My philosophy is derived from a keen study of natures sheer randomness and the human want of trying to create such, using patterns formed from, lets say, how the bicep dictates the sweep of a brush or how the brain translates grass on a 2D form. I consider all these human traits and patterns before marking the canvas.
Although my paintings are heavily considered I like to take an instinctual approach, aided by the use of self-taught classical painting techniques and mixed with my take on a contemporary twist. Often altering natures colours, conditions and scale to an exaggerated form of reality.
