My studio is in the rolling green hills of Vermont. The beauty of the surrounding hills and field inspires me in my work on a daily basis. Over the years I have painted and drawn series of landscapes as well as jazz musicians as they play their instruments. Color is important to me in conveying feeling and a general sense of pleasure in beauty, whether visual or musical.
Children's' classes at the Art Institute of Chicago began my serious studies in art. I have strong memories of those classes still. I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, and have a BFA with a major in painting from their School of Fine Art (now named the Sam Fox School of Art and Design)
For graduate studies I attended the Art Student's League in New York City for two years working in painting and printmaking. The League didn't offer degrees at that time, but what I did is the equivalent of a Masters' degree. Also, I attended a number of weeks at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson Vermont.
