Karolina KuŁAkowska

Poet, painter. Degree in painting from Professor Lech Kołodziejczyk at the Faculty of Arts of the University of
Silesia in Cieszyn in 2011. The collection „Sztaluga w oknie” („The Easel In The Window”) was released in 2007. She published her poems mainly on web sites. Her poems were translated into English and qualified to OFF_PRESS Zeszyty Poetyckie Competition in 2010. Winner of the Kazimiera Iłłakiewiczówna Award for the best debut book of poetry in 2013 („Puste muzea” [„Empty Museums”]). In 2017 she released her second volume of poetry "Drugie cesarstwo ("The second Empire"). In the years 2014-2015 she completed painting series "Elements" and "Seasons."

Specific interaction between the visual world and the world of words occurs in her creative work, resulting in poetic paintings and pictorial poems. Her paintings are repleted with emotions, dosed sometimes subtly and sometimes bluntly. Abstract works focus on penetration of matter, searching the color, intensity and temperature, whereas portraits reveal the character of a person in a lyrical way.
