Natalie Marie Peterson was born in Matawan, New Jersey. The entirety of her adolescence was spent in Matawan, surrounded by a staunchly conservative family. Her interest in the arts was apparent from an early age, as she would often gravitate towards her beloved crayons and pencils, much to the dismay of her mother’s walls. This natural penchant was later rekindled into an interest in pursuing a formal education in visual arts.
After rejecting an acceptance to the University of Rhode Island for a focus in biology, Natalie instead chose a path to pursue her artistic aspirations. After earning an Associate’s degree in Studio Arts from Brookdale Community College, Natalie was equipped with the skill set needed to transfer into Pratt Institute. There she expanded her interests across mediums and beyond basic figural representations, largely experimenting with the connection between the more technical elements of Fine Arts, and her continued interest in the organic and biological processes.
