Born in Falkirk Scotland I started painting in watercolours aged 12 by the time I was 14 I discovered oils and never looked back. I,ve had numerous exhibitions of my work across Scotland. Iam a self taught artist and see myself as a Contemporary figurative painter my work in the last few years I call my visionary work is my theme called "the boy in the striped pyjamas series" usually set in dreamlike topiary gardens at midnight reflecting my love of ghost stories and studies of the human condition sometimes influenced by the Icelandic sagas and childhood memories
Denny High School I had a very inspirational teacher Mr James Dunn who also taught Lesley Banks the well known Scottish artist whose work I really admire. My father an ex RAF airman wrote poetry which was published and my sister too when I was young was a keen painter had a welcoming effect on me and inspired me to draw and paint
1978 Bonnybridge Library, Falkirk Picture Gallery, Stirling the Smith Art Gallery 1993 also in the same year St Marys Cathedral Edinburgh during the festival, The Caird Hall Dundee 2001 Falkirk Town Hall 2005 and 2007 Glasgow Central station for Virgin trains 2014 and The Royal Scottish Academy Summer Exhibition 2017 with my painting called " The Somnambulist "
