Michiel Sonnevijlle

Saxophonist and visual artist Michiel Sonnevijlle (1984) went searching for forms, sounds and creatures early in his life by experimenting with clay, wood, pencil and since age 10, the saxophone. After high school Michiel studied at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg where he received his bachelor diploma improvised music in 2009. In 2011 Michiel joins garage funk band Power to the Pipo, in which he starts experimenting with altering the saxophone sound by using fx pedals. This gave birth to solo project The Floating Fluxman, where Michiel builds songs and soundscapes with his saxophone, fx and a couple of loop machines.
Improvising and exploring freely form the core of Michiel’s work, musically as well as visual. In 2016 he dives head first into painting and never stopped since. His work is colorful, explosive, adventurous. Abstract work with people and animals popping up here and there.
