Semmi Adam

Semmi Adam is an unassuming 21st-century contemporary painter of light and shade, whose paintings are characterized by the use of very good brushstrokes and palette knives to dig deep into colours before application. He is a philosopher who is trying to share ideas and communicate knowledge through art.
Semmi Adam's paintings depict people going about their everyday activities in Chiaroscuro, a style common among the European painters of yesteryears. The knowledge of painting is not new to us, but the expressions in Semmi's painting remain outstanding and focused. He has carefully, intelligently watched his demarche and could be seen vividly on his paintings. His paintings are meant to educate and entertain, predict the future, interrogate policies or human behaviour, question belief and so on.

Semmi Adam graduated in 2018 from the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, specializing in Painting. He has taught art in various schools in Uyo and Benin City.

Semmi Adam has had one-man and group exhibitions in Nigeria. His first one-man exhibition was at Benin City in 2021. He also participated in Painting For Social Change Exhibition 1n 2018. Among his paintings are Dignity in labour, Madam how much, Mother and child, and Somewhere in Yemetu.
