Mark Kirby

I am an award winning Florida artist who paints abstractions using acrylics and mixed media. I was born in Baltimore, Maryland & grew up in Ocean City, MD. I worked in the newspaper industry in Muskegon, Michigan where i resided for 30 years. In 2016 i moved to Vero Beach, Florida. I am inspired by the ocean and coastal subjects. I am from a family of artists, though I have never received formal training in art. I have always painted and dabbled in carving and sculpture. After i broke my back in 2001 i began creating out of boredom and began to carve fish decoys and paint satirical outsider art paintings. In 2008 i moved to abstraction. My current paintings are mostly intuitive as i let my hands create instinctively. I believe my work to be energy filled and will hopefully create a mood as well as an aesthetic in the viewer. My goal is to produce work that will pull the viewer in from afar. My home studio is always open to visitors, and i welcome all art enthusiasts.
