ABOUT
EDUCATION

I am interested in the small details of our constructed environment, the things that get taken for granted, overlooked or discarded. A truth to materials and sensitivity towards use and consumption is central to my practice. My work comprises both site-specific installations and freestanding sculptures. It is mostly created from used or reusable materials such as cardboard, sand and fabric and develops in response to found objects and locations. One strand of my recent work uses the application of gold leaf to add a new layer of value to things discarded or abandoned, thus elevating their status to that of art objects.

I see my photographic works as part of my sculptural practice and often manipulate scale within an image to highlight easily overlooked details of a location.

When siting my work, the relationship between the art work and its architectural surrounding is carefully considered. I hope that viewers of my work might begin to notice, and reconsider the permanence of, the objects and spaces around them.
