Abdul Ali Hyder
(b. 1990) graduated from National Collage of Arts Lahore, with a BFA in Printmaking and was awarded Honors in 2015. Originally from Larkana, he is now based in Lahore. He is a visual artist and educationist, currently teaching second year Printmaking in the Fine Arts Department at National College of Arts, Rawalpindi. Prior to this he taught Printmaking and Drawing at Hunarkada Art College, Lahore 2017.
Significant exhibitions include “Microcosm-Macrocosm” (box print) curated by Lina Vincent at the International Print Exchange Programme, India (2018/19) and an upcoming group exhibition called “Lines in the Sand, Art from Pakistan” sponsored by Imago Mundi and curated by Ambereen Karamat that will take place at the Venice Biennale in 2019. The exhibition is accompanied by a publication of the same name. Hyder also attended an artist’s residency called “Tasweer Ghar” in Lahore (2017) and was awarded the Young Artist Prize at Alhamra Art Council, Lahore 2015.
Hyder’s monochromatic work is about a visual study and investigation informed by memories and tendencies and he uses various printmaking techniques such as etching and woodcut. Other noteworthy projects include, “Before There was a Monsoon” at AAN Gandhara-Art...
