Scott Adams

I have been an architect in California for about 35 years. I took my first painting class in 1999 in oil at a local community college and was encouraged to pursue abstract painting.
Because I have only taken one other painting course , I consider myself to be self-taught
In 2004 I started a series of painting called "Thoughts" which I continue to do. Much like meditation and Aikido, I focus on my breathing and when I am in the "now" I draw with ink images that are playful and represent joy. Once the ink dries I apply bright colors. I started on Yupo paper which is very smooth but have moved to canvas which requires multiple layers of paint to create a smooth surface. I believe in diversity so I also paint portraits, landscapes and nudes.
