Bianca De Klerk

I am a Cape Town-based artist who also likes to explore the blur between art and design within the sphere of interior environments.

I work largely with found, discarded and recycled materials, natural and synthetic. Off the dump site, washed ashore, unwanted clutter-I use it all!

I was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa ( 24 Feb 1987) and attended a Waldorf school from the age of four through to matriculation in 2006. After a year of work and travel abroad I returned to begin my studies in fashion design at the Cape Town University Of Technology in 2008.

While this had been my 'dream' since a young age, I soon found that while I was doing well in fashion design, it was not really fulfilling and left me feeling limited and frustrated. This lead me to pursue fine art and enroll at the Ruth Prowse School Of Art in Woodstock, Cape Town.

This proved to be the perfect decision and I graduated in 2010 with distinction, majoring in mixed media sculpture and installation art.
