Blessed with a limited attention span, I tend to quickly reject anything in the Arts- especially Music- that strikes me as needlessly repetitious or stays too firmly within the limitations of its medium - however superficially attractive. Those few artists, composers or performers who can transcend these, who search further, may then achieve something more profound, revelatory, or visionary.
I have no specific intention or conscious desire to express either an idea or an emotion. Better to keep empty that part of the mind that may allow something to reveal itself. The process seems passive, but the avoidance of conscious intention is an "active" one.
