Katy Halestrap

Having had many years experience, in design, interiors, exteriors and fashion. I began to paint and paint. Colours for me are mood altering, enlivening, energising or calming. I love to use colour to create mood and texture. If I say I am self taught, that would be wrong, after many years of art classes with some inspirational and patient tutors, who without their encouragement, I wouldn't be here today. Spending hours in life drawing and learning to 'see,' has changed my perspective on how I look at the world.

I am now vintage in age, and find such pleasure in painting, time disappears into thin air, so absorbed I get in this. I have a large studio at home and love to travel especially to India, where I have learnt so much about the joy of different colours.

Some of my work is about energy and the energy I see around things, also I find I am obsessed with reflections in water.

I now have the time to devote space and love to this most amazing and equally frustrating pursuit.
