Jas K Chadha is a multidisciplinary artist based in Cambridge UK. Her practice is rooted in sustainable materiality and ecological futures, where recycling is fundamental.
Working with found domestic materials, she fractures, stitches and reworks tools of household order - in order to imply something darker about refuge and comfort, and to draw out the micro-aggressions we have with ourselves, material culture: consumption, flight, sleep, rest, sex and pleasure.
These works are spun in ritual, fantasy, folklore and dream. In each, she draws out the rupture and turmoil pasted between the sheets of home and bed. All etched in secret altars and private frustration, her figures all swim in gestures, lips, legs and hands.
Since training at Central Saint Martins (2018), Chadha has gone on to collaborate with a rich spectrum of contemporary practitioners, spaces and curators. In the past few years she has run supper clubs, worked as a Curator to a number of small galleries, retreat centres and music festivals in Germany and the UK.
Her body of work includes spoken word, performance, film, photography, sound, dance, sculpture and illustration: namely looking at our relationship and connection with the earth and environment.
Chadha has been carefully working alongside private clients and commissions, between her Cambridge studio and independent homes.
