“Growing up in an isolated countryside in eastern part of India made me curious about nature. The Himalayas, dense forests, Bay of Bengal-all made me wonder about nature and her beauty,” Sudarshan Goswami says,” I have mingled with different kinds of people, watched their life-struggle, their honesty and simplicity and warm heartedness from very close quarters. The beauty of ancient Indian cultural heritage completely engulfed me.” Nature, natural beauty and her relationship with people and the great Indian culture and heritage –this is the basis of his marvellous paintings. The water, the trees, foliage, grass, distant misty mountains, the horizon line where the sky meets with the ground- everything becomes lively with touch of his brush. Working in oils and acrylics Goswami employs a bold yet limited colour palette with his traditional time-lapse photo realistic style to give his landscapes a presence that captures the wilderness while unveiling the vivid, eternal yet unseen interior natural beauty.
