Born (1972) and raised in a beautiful and picturesque village in the Rhodope Mountains, I began my art education at the National School of Fine Arts, Sofia, where I discovered the great passion in my life, painting.
My inspiration is modern and contemporary art.
The main motif in my painting is the labyrinth, a perfect and endless form through which I can depict everything from minimalist abstract forms to human figures.
I live and work in Sofia as a painter, muralist and graphic designer.

"The paintings of Dimitar Yankov are based on the his willingness to combine geometric shapes on one hand and more lyrical colours on the other hand. This unity is a starting point of his works. Starting from a scheme of a labyrinth, which unfolds in picturesque prosperity and organizes strictly geometrically.
The master enriches his composition with color sensitivity, which is characterized by its almost magical character. Thereby it combines the purely mental functioning of the geometric organization with the abstract emotionality of the colors that are invested in the work.
So, the master creates compositions in which the rationalism of the brain is associated with the poetic predisposition of the heart in an inseparable unity."
