Who are you and what’s your background?

Marin Berovic was born in 1951 in Novo mesto, Slovenia, EU. He was talented painter already in his early school time. In his High School he was influent ilustrator of poetry and lateron also his Faculty Journal.

Tell us about who you are and what you do. Why Art ?

I am all of my life a combination of Science & Art. It was all of my life like that. My Science was always complemented with My Art (playing music, phography, literature...) and the opposite. My activities always constructively supported each other. Although I had started as a figuralist my interest has very early turned to Landscapes where I am home still now.
In my early years I was linked to Oil Pastel where after I had reached my Top in its technology and expression I turned to Classic Pastel where I am after 50 years the most specialized and recognized Slovenian pastel artist. Besides Pastel I was specialized also Aquarel and special effects in this technique.

In 1979 he received his M.Sc. and in 1986 his Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering on Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana. In 1984 he received his M.A. in Restoration and Preservation from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. Full Time Professor on Biochemical Engineering on Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology and Full Time Professor on Art Technology in the Department of Restoration of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana (1996-2016). Professor of Fine Technology at the College of Painting (1994-2007). Member of the New York Academy of Science, the Association of Slovenian Fine Artists ZDSLU (1983) and the Association of Fine Artists of Ljubljana DLUL.
