Steve Young was born in London in 1970. He now lives in the Valencia region of Spain. For many years he has worked on photography projects both commercial and private. Primarily he describes himself as an academically trained art photographer. What does that mean? That all of the work made is underpinned by contextual and visual research, sometimes taking some months to prepare and shoot a project. The work, although not always obvious, offers the viewer both a critique of the situation that is photographed as well as an aesthetic experience. He is an experienced meditator.

As time has evolved, his artistic vision has deepened and aligned itself more with the voice of experience as an observer of outer and inner phenomia. I have ongoing mentor connections in art and photography and study widely. My work is informed by reading, films, history, biography and reflection.
