Rachana Patkar

Rachana Patkar was born in Mapusa, Goa in 1975 , She is visual artist trained at the Goa College of Art in 1998, and began her carrier as a visualizer, following an earlier role with a company in South Goa working on azulejos-inspired design projects.

My work questions assumptions and corelation of the word "home" with a woman. These houses personify women; various individualized womans (houses). Due to high pressure traditional cultural bounds. deep-rooted traditions shape women’s lives, even when they try to grow beyond them. The work should make the viewer reflect about how the society’s deep-rooted ideas about gender, shapes a woman’s sense of space and identity. they make us think about how society has long connected women with the idea of home and how that connection can be (and should be) seen, questioned, and reimagined.. I depict in the the forms of shifting houses as a symbol of change and confinement.
