I am a designer–silversmith and currently focusing on landscape painting and drawing in both digital and traditional media. Drawing has always been central to my creative practice. I love contrasts and in my current work I aim to capture dramatic moods, sublime lighting effects and robust textural qualities. I have a particular interest in the raw, elemental properties of landscape and the evidence of human presence contrasting with wild, untamed nature. There is much energy and life-force in the environment that is not always discerned and I enjoy the poetry of mark-making to bring it to the surface as a palpable experience.
I have also lectured in adult, further and higher education in design and drawing. I give art history talks and offer workshops in drawing and mark-making techniques.
