Chrisoula Chatzicharalampous

Chrysa Chatzicharalampous' painting moves between lyrical abstraction and representation. The images refer to the connection between the landscape and the inner space, where the landscape is the starting point and the painting gesture is the means. The act of painting leads to images of the natural world as a metaphor for the interior world. Images of reality change to reveal mental and emotional states.
The landscape is used with a symbolic meaning that does not seek to represent what can be seen, but what is ambiguous. It allows the viewer to feel the awe that derives from the natural world, even when the painting does not explicitly refer to it. The instinctive lyrical compositions invite the viewer into an active participation in the meaning of the paintings.
