Bette Burgoyne was born in Seattle, Washington, USA. After graduating from Seattle's Cornish College of the Arts in 1986, she moved to San Francisco, California to live for ten years, practicing and teaching art. Bette earned an MFA at Mills College CA in 1991. Solo exhibitions included New Langton Arts, Southern Exposure, Mincher/Wilcox and Headlands Center for the Arts in California. Her sculptural work was also featured in many group exhibitions in several different cities. Among her awards are the Veronica di Rosa Residency Award at Headlands Center for the Arts CA, Tread of Angels Fellowship at Djerassi Foundation CA, Watkins Award at New Langton Arts SF and the Boudreaux Cadogan Scholarship at Mills College CA.
Ms. Burgoyne returned to live in Seattle again in 1997.
Recent exhibitions of the last few years are Transillumination at Vermillion Gallery Seattle and Scroll at Amo Art Waitsburg Washinton, along with group exhibitions at Davidson Gallery Seattle, Roq La Rue Seattle, and Lexington Art League Kentucky . Bette's drawings have been featured on several blogs including Booooooom, Juxtapoz, but does it float, Algorithmic Worlds, and 50 Watts.
