Fatma Durmush is a disabled artist, with a prolific practice mainly focussed on painting and sketching.
Born in cyprus in 1959 to turkish-cypriot parents, she moved to the uk as a baby and currently lives and works in London.
Her work is deeply personal – it is an outpouring, a way for fatma to free her thoughts and calm her over-crowded mind.
It is a fundamental reflection of her interior world, deeply rooted in images of childhood and dreams. Fatma has lived with physical and mental health conditions for many years, and at points in her life endured periods of violent physical and emotional abuse.
She first discovered painting through art therapy, and her practice remains a vital way for her to process feelings and experiences.
