Naoko Muneoka's oil paintings are made slowly. Many thin layers of paint applied over large areas - a process lasting several months - result in the characteristic, highly plastic, small-scale structure of the surface that Naoko strives for. Subtle color variations in the numerous layers create contours and shapes on the picture's surface.
