Paolo Grasso

I started playing with a broken camera at the age of twelve, trying to watch the world in a viewfinder.
The shots were imaginary, there was not the film in camera, but only my imagination.
Then came the first reflex and with it the first experiments in the darkroom.
I deepened this passion by investing all my free time and my little money.
I did not attend any specialized school, all I know, I learned by practicing, mistake after mistake.
Today, like 45 years ago, I continue to take pictures, to learn to photograph better and better, with curiosity, emotional involvement, introspection, game and illusion.
I don't like to call myself "artist", much less a "professional". These are not titles that I deserve.
With my photos I only try to return what my eyes have stolen.

I normally use a couple of 6x6 cameras (Mamiya C330 and Hasselblad 500), strictly with black and white film, which I develop myself.
On some occasions I also shoot digitally.
