My name is Eduardo Montani and I am a ceramic artist born in Brazil in 1986.
My first experiences as an artist, in a more intensive way, happen when I did a BA in Architecture. The formal composition studies I developed at that time gave me a new perception of forms and the relation between elements and shapes. Those exercises opened a whole new field beyond architecture to explore.
At that moment I knew that I would be an artist for life. Having worked as an architect for over 10 years, ceramics was a natural choice of primary media - it being an essential material in my field. It was on 2021, during an Artistic Ceramics Residency, that I was able to explore this media further. I am passionate about clay because of the endless possibilities for creation it provides to a skilful artist.For as long as I can remember I’ve been asking myself: why do things have to be done the way people always have done them?
