Arafat Hosen

I grew up in Katiadi, a village within Kishoreganj District. For this very special reason, rural life, nature and the people living in a rural setting with all its traditions of folklore and local history, occupy a large part of my childhood memories. Even though I later adopted institutional art in an urban environment, the memories I retain from my village have always had a significant impact and inspiration on my journey through art. People and portraiture were once my favorite subjects as in my first solo exhibition in 2008 Passage to the Soul which featured people and my created portraits using pen and ink, pastels and acrylic medium. My creativity through the various artistic media
available to me and the exciting opportunities it has offered, has played a huge influence on my emotional and psychological maturity and the transformation that this has evolved in both my thoughts and the application of my skills with new subjects, new media and exploring, for me, new techniques in my journey of art and as an artist.
