Lucie Rachel

Lucie Rachel’s practice is somewhat confessional, working with still and moving image to narrate and navigate recurring themes of domestic relationships, gender and the unspoken. Lucie graduated from Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design as one of the Royal Scottish Academy’s New Contemporaries in 2015, recognised for her documentary work observing the complexities of her mother and trans parent’s unusually well documented relationship. Her short film ‘Mother Father’ (2015) continues to be screened at multiple film festivals, while her accompanying book is part of the Dundee Artists Book Collection in the VRC at Dundee Contemporary Arts. Recently she completed a short documentary titled ‘Where We Are Now’ (2016) in the context of the Scottish Documentary Institute’s Bridging the Gap programme, which premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2016. She is now working on an experimental art doc about mental health stigma and discrimination for Glasgow Film and See Me Scotland’s Film Fund. Lucie lives and works in Dundee, where she is a current committee member of Tin Roof Arts Collective and supporting member of COLAGE UK.
